Variegated Brown Foliage With A Surprise

The Coral Bells Marmalade, Heuchera \’Marmalade’ (PP15,945), has maple leafed foliage in varying shades of amber to bronze. Taller shoots of brown-colored flowers appear on this evergreen plant in late spring.

As it matures to a golden color, the foliage features contrasting hot pink undersides! Coral Bells are grown more for their foliage color but the small pink blooms that they contain will attract hummingbirds.

Like most Coral Bells, \’Marmalade’ thrives in partial sunlight but once established it will also grow in shade. This variety of Coral Bell may also grow in full sun in cooler climates.

\’Marmalade’ grows best in a rich, well-drained soil; water and fertilize regularly throughout the growing season. Use this Coral Bell as a groundcover, in rock gardens, as a border plant or as an edging along paths and walkways. This plant looks good when paired with Artemisia, Ornamental Grasses, or low groundcovers.

Cold and drought tolerant and withstanding heat and humidity, nothing seems to phase this plant. This Heuchera adds a bit of flavor to any perennial garden with its texture, vigor, and vibrant color.

Attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, this Coral Bell will surely become a “must have” plant as it provides a dramatic contrast in any shaded plant area. \’Marmalade’ should not be left out of your shade perennial garden!
