The leaves are finely dissected, like an expensive Japanese Maple tree leaf, and they are bright green with dramatic maroon central veining. They grow in a neat clump that never needs pruning. This woodland perennial is native to North America and thrives in humus-rich soil. It is fine in partial or full shade and is evergreen in many climate zones.
