Garden Plant: Tor Spirea
Product Description: Tor Spirea
Compact Spirea Makes a Great Low Hedge!
The Spirea \’Tor’, Spiraea betuliflia \’Tor’, is a compact Spirea. Its tiny white flower clusters are set against a backdrop of deep green leaves that are almost iridescent in the summer.
The bright foliage turns a deep, purplish-red in the fall. The flowers are attractive to butterflies. After your \’Tor’ is finished blooming, a light shearing will encourage repeat bloom. Tor blooms on new wood so pruning in early spring or late winter is recommended. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun, it also tolerates a wide range of conditions.
Because of its small size and great attributes, \’Tor’ makes a wonderful foundation plant. It can also be used as a specimen or grouped for rock gardens.
This Spirea looks fabulous when planted en masse! Try using it as a low hedge for paths and walkways too. These are hardy, very popular and don’t stay in stock very long.
