Daylily Strutters Ball, Hemerocallis \’Strutters Ball’ is a Designer Daylily featuring dark blackish purple 6″ flowers with a silky halo around the lemon-green throat. The very rich color has made \’Strutters Ball’ one of the most popular purples among Daylily enthusiasts.
It blooms mid season on heavily budded well-branched scapes. Awards from the American Hemerocallis Society include the Award of Merit in 1992, Honorable Mention in 1989, and Junior Citation in 1986.
\’Strutters Ball’ is considered a “Designer” Daylily because it has been selected as a highly performing plant with exceptional bloom performance, substantive, vibrantly colored flowers, complete winter hardiness in northern zones, and a vigorous habit.
Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a good choice for any gardener. They will grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions. Use for stand alone plantings, edging, in borders or in mixed containers and tubs. Planted together in large numbers, they quickly crowd out weeds and make a carefree and colorful ground cover.
Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including: polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees (not affected by Juglone).
