Sensation Boxelder Maple (Acer negundo \’Sensation’) is a pretty tree that can handle tough climates without skipping a beat. A member of the Maple tree family, this is a native selection so you know it will do well!
Maple trees are easy to grow and are used all over North America. Maples are known for the color of the fall leaves and Sensation Boxelder is no exception. In the fall it unleashes a brilliant display of rich red leaves that are a classic fall garden look. The leaves come out a soft copper-red in the spring and quickly change to a refreshing green with just a hint of copper undertones for the summer.
It is a great landscape tree and casts nice shade. It’s nicely sized for a garden bed or border. Where this tree really shines is in areas that have challenging climates. It hardy to zone 4 (-40 degrees and more) and it is water-wise too. Once it is established it is relatively drought tolerant.
It is super easy to care for and thrives in sun or part shade. Several lining a long drive are picture perfect in any season.
