Garden Plant: Ruby Star Coneflower
Product Description: Ruby Star Coneflower
Tall, Carmine Stars For Your Garden
The Coneflower \’Ruby Star’, Echinacea purpurea \’Ruby Star’, produces large, intense carmine red, daisy-like flowers with a dark bronze pincushion-like center cone.
These flowers grow on 40 inch tall stems from late spring through fall! Rising high above the leaves to display their bold blooms to attract wildlife.
“Ruby Star’ is a great sun-loving and drought tolerant perennial; plus it attracts bees and butterflies! This Coneflower is stunning with ornamental grasses, easy to grow in full sun to part shade, and does best in full sun.
This plant adapts to drought, moist soil, heat, humidity and poor soil. Coneflowers do double duty when it comes to benefiting wildlife. The new flowers provide nectar for butterflies and other pollinators, while old flowers provide seed for songbirds.
The dead flower stems will remain erect well into the winter and, if flower heads are not removed, are often visited by Goldfinches and other birds to feed on the seed.
