Like all of the beautiful shrubs in the \’Magic Crape Myrtle’ line from First Edition Plants, Purple Magic will bloom its frilly purple flowers over a long season if you deadhead it after the initial early summer flush. They are also highly resistant to leaf spot and powdery mildew, so they don’t require a lot of fuss.
The leaves start out with a pretty red tint and eventually turn to a glossy green. This shrub is handsome with or without the flowers… but You’ll be very happy it has flowers. The rich purple ruffled blooms look great in masses or with other perennials. Try them with yellow, orange or white flowers or foliage for an unforgettable garden look this summer.
