A Beautiful Vivid Purple Beard-tongue

Penstemon – also called beard-tongues because of the fuzzy texture of their stamens – are native American plants available in a surprising range of colors, textures and heights. Usually seen in fiery shades of red, orange and yellow or soft shades of pink and violet, Penstemon Prairie Dusk (Penstemon Prairie Dusk) is a breath of fresh air with its vivid purple flowers.

Developed in Nebraska, this tough hybrid selection was chosen for its easy demeanor and exceptional hardiness. The plants form low clumps of deep green foliage, and shoots up the flower spikes in early summer.

The flower are bright purple trumpets that stand out in the garden and especially if planted with gold or pink flowers as companions. (Try planting it with Coronation Gold Yarrow or Elfin Pink Penstemon and count the compliments that roll in. )

Penstemon flowers are splendid in perennial borders and also make great cut flowers.

You and your neighbors won’t be the only ones attracted to these purple beauties. Hummingbirds and butterflies can’t stay away from them. Penstemon Prairie Dusk will animate your garden like few flowers can.
