Long panicles of pure white flowers cover the plant from top to bottom throughout the growing season. Natchez blooms all summer long! You might see them referred to as “Natchez Crepe Myrtle” because the texture of the robust flower heads look like crinkled crepe-paper!

Soft foliage droops enchantingly downward to help ground the plant to its surroundings.

Use Natchez Crape Myrtle trees in the front lawn as part of an accent planting. This is a sophisticated color choice that works very nicely with many exteriors.

Underplant with small shrubs, perennials and spring bulbs. Add a natural stone border or boulders to easily boost your curb appeal.

This is a very appealing large shrub or small tree that can also be grouped to create a pretty privacy screen. For the best screen, keep all the lower limbs on and allow it to grow into a friendly flowering shrub.

If you remove the lower limbs and use a row of them as small street trees, You’ll showcase the beautiful exfoliating bark and gain a big dose of winter interest.

Like other Crape Myrtle trees, the Natchez Crape Myrtle is ideally suited for formal or informal design in the home landscape, street plantings and community plantings. It can be planted as a specimen or in groups.

Oval Crape Myrtle leaves are bronze-colored when they first unfold in the spring. They’ll deepen to a delicious green for summer and will cast a refreshing shade. The green leaves turn bright hues of yellow, orange or red before falling late in autumn.

You’ll never regret your decision to install Natchez. It’s a tried and true best seller that works amazing well all over the United States.

How to Use Natchez Crape Myrtle in the Landscape

With its crisp, clean good looks and pristine, fluffy white blooms, Natchez is a wonderful choice. The possibilities for use are almost endless.

This plant is very adaptable and versatile. It will thrive in many soil types and climate conditions. You’ll also be able to grow it as a single trunk patio tree or as a multi-trunk accent feature specimen. You can even leave the lower branches on to encourage a solid, shrubby screen.

Plant several of them as a hedge near a patio or deck to block the afternoon sun and give airy, pretty privacy. For a screen, keep the lower limbs on to use it as a large shrub. Plant them 4 feet apart, measuring from the center of the first to the center of the next.

You can see how you get a big head start if you purchase the largest size containers we have. Bigger plants are older plants with larger root systems.

Take advantage of the time the larger size plants have spent in the care of our expert growers. Size up whenever you can.

March a row of them along the street, or driveway. For individual plants, give them 10 – 12 feet spacing between the plants.

Use a single tree as a wonderful focal point anywhere you need a bit of excitement in your landscape. It will draw the eye in a restful way, and can suit contemporary, country, rustic or classic architecture equally as well.

Try a pair of them on either side of the front walkway. You may have walked underneath an allée of Natchez Crape Myrtles in a park. Try to recreate this wonderful experience at your house.

It only takes a few trees planted on either side to give you a similar experience. Plant the trees at least 8 feet away from the walkway, and carefully prune the arching branches to fit your space. What a memorable way to welcome guests!

Pro Plant Tips for Care

Natchez Crape Myrtles are easy to grow in a full sun site. Morning sun is best, with its wonderful drying power.

Give your tree good air circulation and plenty of elbow room to grow into the full height and width. Keep things easy for yourself!

In early spring, give your Natchez Crape Myrtle supplemental water as needed. This will help ensure the new growth is lush and full. And since the plant flowers on new growth, the extra water will give you marvelous Flower Power though the summer and into fall.

The rest of the year, Natchez is happy to thrive in low water conditions. Soil drainage is an important consideration. Create a mound or berm if your soil drains slowly. Plant directly in that mound. Remember not to plant your Natchez too deeply in the ground. Shallow is best for this lovely plant.
