Plant Cherry fruit trees in full sun with well-drained soil. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.
Although this durable tree displays disease resistance, we always recommend a planting site that receives morning sun. This will quickly dry the leaves from any overnight dew.
Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Apply a thick layer of mulch to cover the root system, spread to 3 feet outside the canopy but pull it back 6 inches away from the trunk.
Prune in late winter to correct the shape. Remove a third of last year’s growth to encourage more fruiting wood.
