This Viburnum Makes a Great Hedge

Want to add a little \’coolness’ to your garden? Then you need to plant Maries Doublefile Viburnum (Viburnum plicatum \’Mariesii’). Viburnum’s are also known as Snowball Bush and it’s easy to see why. In spring and early summer, Maries Doublefile is covered in snowy white blooms that look like Christmas flocking.

The beautiful flowers tend to grow in two horizontal rows on top of each other, hence the name Doublefile. And that means double the goodness.

The flowers aren’t the only thing that make this great shrub so attractive. The dark green foliage turns a lustrous red-purple in fall.

If you have a couple of these beauties in your yard then they will pollinate each other and you get little berries that transition from spring green to sunset hues of pink-orange-red in mid-summer. They mature to black by September, and then either shrivel up and drop, or are consumed by the birds. Birds love them!

Maries Doublefile looks great in mass plantings, but try it as a unique hedge. It also makes a great accent plant. It prefers partial shade but enjoys full sun too.

Maries Doublefile Viburnum will add a serious \’cool’ factor to your landscape in spring, but only if you order a few today!

  • Partial sun
  • Eye-catching blooms
  • Hardy and disease resistant
