The Bleeding Heart Luxuriant, \’Dicentra \’Luxuriant’, is a fast-growing perennial with pink, heart-shaped flowers. The blooms look wonderful against its grayish foliage.
Dicentra should be planted in partial sun but will tolerate morning and full shade. It is heat tolerant and needs moist soil. Do not let it dry out.
Dicentra will bloom from May to September and is a major attractor to butterflies. \’Luxuriant’ makes excellent cut flowers, in mass with groundcovers, or in potted containers.
Being an old fashioned plant, it is a must in any landscape.
This is a plant for fertile but well-drained soils. It prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soils similar to a great woodland soil full of organic matter and richly fertile. The simplest way to mimic this is to add several shovels of compost around the base of the plant every spring.
