Garden Plant: Lily Looks Tiny Hope Asiatic Lily
Product Description: Lily Looks Tiny Hope Asiatic Lily
Tiny Hope has Big Color!
There are very few plants that will give you quite the big, bold shot of color that lilies can. Their petals seem saturated to the point of almost glowing with rich color.
Tiny Hope Asiatic Lily (Lilium asiatica \’Tiny Hope’) is at the top of the list for deep hues. These petite lilies were originally bred for the container trade in the Netherlands, but have proven themselves to be fine garden performers, too. As tender but strong perennials, you can expect them to return year after year getting better and better with time.
Growing a foot shorter than many of their lily brethren, Tiny Hope is perfect for the front of the border. They are especially breathtaking if you group them in big masses in perennial beds. (And don’t neglect what they were bred for. They are superstars in containers!) The deep green pointed leaves make for a very architectural plant. But when they bloom, that’s when you need to step back! They are a deep red that is hard to explain – kind of a garnet-orange – that will steal the attention from every other plant in your garden.
In midsummer, they bloom big blooms that are also perfect for cutting and bringing indoors. They have long vase lives if you pick them just as the color is cracking on them.
These are stunningly colored flowers on small plants.
