Bring out the BloomStruck Hydrangeas wonderful display of color with a few simple guidelines. First, use a Soil Testing kit to determine the pH of your soil. Anything below 7 is considered acidic.

For the best shade of blues and purples, the soil pH should be between 5. 5 to 5. 8. Adjust your soils using Aluminum Sulphate, following the directions on the package until you achieve the desired pH over time. Add garden lime to warm up the tones to a lovely clear pink.

Please be patient. It may take a season or two to get things exactly right. Adjusting the pH can have a dramatic effect on the color and overall display, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Decide if you want vivid rose pink, deep luscious purple, brilliant blue or everything in between, on the BloomStruck Hydrangea. Change them every year, if you so desire.

Leave the last blooms of the season standing on the plant for interest during the winter months. They’ll dry on the shrub and offer winter protection. The dried blooms will give you something great to look at until things start heating up again for spring.

Pro Plant Tips for Care

Plant in a location with moist soils that are well-drained and rich in organic matter. BloomStruck won’t tolerate standing water. If needed, simply raise your planting to 12 to 18 inches above the soil line to improve oxygen to the root.

Hydrangeas really benefit from being mulched well. Apply at least 3 to 4 inches of mulch spread out 3 feet from the outside of the canopy. Apply Dr. Earth Acid Lovers Acid Fertilizer to maintain the soil biology and help sustain your pH for those pretty blue blooms.

This is a beautiful compact selection and only needs a limited amount of maintenance. In the first few years, only cosmetic pruning to remove winter damaged stems is needed to shape the plant.

After the 3rd year, remove twiggy growth and remove a portion of the older growth to make room for new shoots. These can be removed to the ground or cut back to a point in the spring.

With the extra-strong stems, above average heat tolerance and great disease and powdery mildew resistance, BloomStruck is an outstanding garden plant.

The one-two punch of beauty and hardiness make the Endless Summer BloomStruck Hydrangea one you don’t want to miss. Order one or more for your garden this year!
