Dwarf Alberta Spruce trees are cold weather plants that prefer Zones 3 – 6, where it gets pretty nippy outside in winter.
Use it as a cute little decoration for the season. Place it near a cool window that gets bright sunlight but keep it away from air vents. Add just add enough moisture as needed throughout the holiday season, but please don’t let it sit in standing water.
If You’d like to plant this in your yard, “harden it off” for a few days by moving it gradually to colder and colder locations until it’s used to outside temperatures.
If your ground is frozen, store it in a cool garage by the window, or on a porch. Water it periodically. If the ground isn’t frozen, go ahead and plant it. Be sure to water it in well and provide supplemental watering the first season.
You can also simply compost this once the season is done, much like you would do a poinsettia. Either way, it’s a fabulous look and a welcomed seasonal gift.
