Garden Plant: Dixie Chip Ajuga
Product Description: Dixie Chip Ajuga
Light Colored Foliage in a Hardy Groundcover
Dixie Chip Bugleweed, Ajuga \’Dixie Chip’, has green, cream, and rose-purple variegated narrow leaved foliage that will create a spectacular display for your garden when planted in mass.
In mid to late spring, violet blue flowers appear above the low spreading foliage. Ajuga \’Dixie Chip’ is a petite variegated Ajuga.
It forms a tight habit, making it useful for erosion control on slopes and also as a weed suppressing ground cover for the landscape. Ajuga \’Dixie Chip’ will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. It prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas.
Do avoid soggy conditions. Ajuga \’Dixie Chip’ looks great in rock gardens, as a border plants, in mass plantings and is great for preventing erosion.
Butterflies and hummingbirds are defiantly attracted to Ajuga \’Dixie Chip’, not to mention being deer and rabbit resistant and a low allergen. If you are looking for a perennial ground cover to exceed in a hard to grow shady area, Ajuga is the way to go!
