While this plant produces one of the most notable flowers you will find, it also offers attractive and strong foliage when not in bloom.

To help your Alpine Journey Tall Bearded Iris produce its most stunning blooms, you want to be sure to start it off right. This means planting it in late summer into early fall to get your Iris established nicely. Plant it in an area that receives full sun.

Irises do best when planted in well-drained soil with the top of the rhizome exposed (unless you live in a hot climate, then provide a thin layer of soil). Plant yours in a mound of soil to help shed away water. If the roots are bundled tightly, be sure to fan them out then pack the soil tightly around. Provide your iris with ample water when it’s rooting.

After your irises take root they will thrive. Once established, your iris will only need to be watered once its soil is dry. As the years pass, you will want to divide them and plant the new rhizomes nearby (2-5 years depending on how closely they’re planted together).

Don’t miss out on a journey of discovering one of the most alluring irises. Gift yourself and your garden with some Alpine Journey Tall Bearded Irises.

Information about Bare Root Iris

Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different sized roots.

When planting, make sure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, it’s best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover in the spring.
