How to Use White Knock Out Rose in the Landscape
This versatile selection can be used as a partner plant for bolder colors, or on its own as an ultra-modern feature plant. You’ll delight in a beautiful season filled with a dynamic contrast between pure white blossoms and deep green foliage.
Plant them in containers, or use them in the ground. Either way, You’ll appreciate the performance.
For effortless style, plant a row of them on the sunny side of larger, purple-foliage shrubs such as Diabolo Ninebark, Purple Sandleaf Cherry, Black Diamond Crape Myrtles or Tuxedo Weigela. With the brilliant white flowers against all that relaxing, lush foliage, your yard will showcase that designer touch.
Plant them two feet apart on center to create low hedges that grow together. Or, use multiple rows planted in a staggered zigzagging pattern to fill a wide, open area.
Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Nothing could be easier than a mass planting of White Knock Out Roses.
Line wide beds along your front walkway, or try a pair flanking either side of your front door. Create a low hedge along the length of your patio garden beds, and add them to mixed shrub borders.
This calm backdrop can handle a “lot of look”. It’s neutral, but never drab or flat.
Elevate them in special, glazed containers of any color you like. Have fun using different bold colors each season to accessorize your space.
Try black and white accessories on your backyard conversation seating for chic, little get-togethers. Or, brighten this Rose with easy accessories, such as hot pink pillows on your seating.
Use plants to add warmth. Underplant this Rose with a low-growing, red groundcover like Dragon’s Blood Sedum.
Need a restful year? Try this Rose in cobalt blue glazed pots. It would be absolutely breathtaking.
Want to amp up the energy? Splash out on bright yellow glazed pots for a very fresh look.
Rely on them in sunny spots throughout your landscape. Create pretty low hedges, or use as a focal point in your foundation or mixed border. You simply can’t go wrong with these.
Pro Plant Tips for Care
Easy-care, low maintenance and forgiving, Knock Out Rose bushes must have at least 6 hours or more of full sun each day. They will be perfectly happy baking all day long in the blazing hot sun.
They need well-drained soil that won’t retain water for long. If you have poorly drained soil, plant them in containers or create a raised planting bed.
We always recommend Root Booster when planting to get your Roses off to the best start. Follow the directions on the package.
Often listed as drought tolerant, we recommend you provide Knock Out Roses a medium amount of water on a regular basis. Water deeply in times of extreme drought. Please, protect your investment!
Water container-grown Roses regularly, using a drip irrigation system to water the soil, not the foliage. Be sure to use mulch in containers, as well.
Each year in early spring, prune them down to 6 inches, just as they start to grow for the season. Called a “one and done”, there aren’t many plants this easy to care for.
These plants will stay smaller in the colder USDA Growing Zones. After a hard winter, you may need to prune them closer than 6 inches to the ground, but they’ll rebound quickly.
Add two inches of mulch over the root system, and plan to reapply in spring. Over time, the mulch will break down to improve your soil!
This tough shrub resists common pathogens like black spot, powdery mildew or leaf rust. Knock Out Roses do very well in humid climates.
Apply a slow-release fertilize once a year in early spring. Follow directions on the label.
You’ll love the way White Knock Out Rose makes your landscape shine. Enjoy the abundant flowers, easy-care nature and polished presentation. Order today!
