Mauve For Miles!
Woodbridge Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus \’Woodbridge’, is a very erect, upright deciduous shrub or tree. First it is dark red, then it produces large rosy-pink flowers with a red center.
This profuse blooming lasts from summer to fall. Woodbridge’s trumpet-shaped blooms are four inches wide, it is a moderate grower, and also pollution-tolerant.
Rose of Sharon prefers full sun and well-drained soil and is very tolerant of heat and drought. Keep it well watered during growth. Woodbridge does best in full sun, but light shade is acceptable, especially in far southern or southwestern climates.
One’s ability to shape Rose of Sharon also makes the shrub a prime candidate for hedges.
It is a profuse bloomer and not only blooms late, but leafs out late as well. Butterflies will flock to the blooms!
